The company was federally incorporated in Canada in October 2010. Launched Taste&Travel Magazine an internationally distributed consumer magazine with a focus on culinary travel, in March 2011. Publications Officer and Head, United Nations University Press

Directed the operations of the United Nations University Press. Planned and executed the overall publishing policy of the UNU Press and determined the character, scope and modalities of the University’s publications program.

Responsibilities included manuscript acquisition and review; title budgeting and promotional planning; supervision of editing, design, composition, and printing processes; monitoring of outsourcing procedures and vendor relations; implementation of marketing, sales, and distribution strategies; negotiation of co-publishing and translation agreements.

Developed an annual publishing plan and biennial budget for both sale and non-sale publications.

Worked closely with program officers and researchers in determining the appropriate formats and intended target audiences for their research output.

Supervised full-time editorial, production and sales staff, as well as a varying number of freelance designers, copy-editors and indexers; administered operational budget (excluding salaries and overhead) of c. US$1 million.

Achievements include:

    • developing an intellectually distinguished publishing program that established UNU Press as the imprint of excellence and publisher of first choice for UN-interest publications
    • conception, development, implementation and management of “Fast Track” publishing program to allow 16-week timeframe for publishing of time-sensitive studies on topics of interest  to high-level UN decision makers
    • enhancing the overall quality of UNU publications by emphasizing the need for quality control and accountability
    • reducing the operating budget by 30% while increasing the number of publications by streamlining editorial and production processes
    • increasing net sales receipts by 100% during term of office through improved collections and increased sales

Managed the publishing division of PT Indo Multi Media, an English language publishing house serving government and private sectors, with emphasis on tourism, business, and lifestyle magazines, annual reports and other corporate communication materials.

Undertook planning, budget and quality control and production of all printed materials, including four monthly tourism tabloids, six bi-monthly magazines, three monthly newsletters plus a series of seven maps and twelve destination booklets.

Acquired new accounts, liaised with clients, negotiated commercial publishing agreements.

Responsible for all aspects of quality control and on-time fulfillment of contractual agreements.

In association with American Express, British Airways, KLM and Hyatt Hotels, designed and coordinated Portraits of Excellence, an exhibition featuring photographic portraits of  influential businessmen and government figures in Southeast Asia, coordinating the public relations, photography, exhibition logistics, and protocol in Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand.

Contributed articles to numerous international publications. Fact checker for Reader’s Digest stories featuring Indonesia. Developed film and video scripts for clients including: Troma Inc.
